 In the breeze home3Since 1985, In the Breeze has built a solid reputation in the outdoor decorative and kite wholesale market through great customer service and quality products (and now a fresh website to prove it!). Founders Bill Dual and Debbie Schomberg started out with a limited number of U.S.A. Made Windsocks, Baby Soc’s and 3D Flower Shape Windsocks. They were quickly able to provide hundreds of different styles and custom designs and become a distributor for other major companies in the outdoor decorative and kite industry products. Dual and Schomberg write that their corporate culture “recognizes and stresses the need for professionalism in many aspects of the business, but given the fun nature of [their] product offerings, it also strives to maintain a fun, light-hearted atmosphere”. By remaining true to this mantra, In the Breeze has earned several prestigious industry awards from the Gift & Souvenir Industry and the Kite Trade Association International including multiple Best Booth, Best Manufacturer and Wholesaler, Best Product and the coveted David Checkley Lifetime Contribution Award.

 

In late 2013 Speartek began working with In the Breeze to create a polished new website on Speartek’s ecommerce platform. The new site needed to offer secure and access restricted shopping to wholesale buyers, while still showing the full line of products to potential wholesale customers. Although they felt their old website was one of the better wholesale ordering sites in their direct industry, site visitors were saying their site looked dated, had limited functionality, and users experienced frustration with the inability to save their cart and contact information. In addition to improving the shopping experience for their wholesale buyers, In the Breeze also needed to provide information to retail shoppers such as where to buy and assembly instructions. The customer service team was receiving numerous daily requests for assembly instruction, so it was important to make this information easily accessible online. With these guidelines, Speartek and In the Breeze designed a new wholesale ecommerce website that is easier to navigate, has a streamline order process, and is a great source of information on products that is helpful for not only the retailer, but also the consumer.

 

In the Breeze wanted a site that was professional yet fun with a clean fresh look that would not compete their colorful products. The main theme of their products is “Color in Motion”. Cloud-filled blue skies and green grass landscapes are key design elements were chosen to support the outdoors theme of their products. The design is bright, playful and modern while large product images take center stage.  

 

The homepage highlights two main objectives of improvement: easier navigation and a greater source of information. A site visitor can easily browse products by type, brand, theme, new products, and specials. These categories are all broken down into smaller groupings in a drop down menu where the user can view exactly what they please. There is a homepage slideshow to features products and as well as sections to promote new products and best sellers. Site visitors are also greeted by a three paragraph introduction to the website about In the Breeze and their products so that the new (or old) visitor does not have to venture far to know who In the Breeze and what they offer.

 

One of the most significant features of the new site is called “save cart”. This feature streamlines the reordering process for wholesale buyers who need to restock inventory from orders previously placed order on the In the Breeze website. This feature saves the products and quantities in the shoppers cart so that it can accessed and purchased at a later date. This saves a lot of time for wholesale buyers who frequently place “reorders” and do not want to spend a lot of time filling up the cart with the same items over and over again.

 

Another feature that makes it easy for the wholesale buyer to order is the Quick Order View. This allows buyers to order multiple products from a category without having to drill down into individual product pages to add product to the cart. This is a big time saver when there may be 30-40 products that need to get ordered.

 

In the Breeze emphasizes that their number one goal is customer satisfaction. Their newly designed website has enhanced their overall user experience by making it easier to navigate, find information, and purchase products. They have continued to stay true to making their customers satisfied which has improved their already excellent customer service!
