Google has rolled out a new feature which enables users to shop at stores safely. The new program, called Google Trusted Stores, allows merchants who meet certain criteria to display the coveted badge. This makes the program ideal for consumers and merchants alike, as it allows consumers to feel safe in their purchases and in turn the badge attracts more consumers to a merchant’s store.

In order to qualify for the Trusted Google Store badge, a merchant will be required to have on-time shipments, quickly resolve issues and have overall good customer service. Google will monitor the activity of a merchant to determine if they are eligible for the badge.

For consumers, Google offers an opt-in service for purchase protection. Consumers can choose $1,000 in purchase protection coverage in the event of damaged or misplaced goods. This service is free to consumers when they purchase from a Google Trusted Store. What’s more, Google’s purchase protection coverage will cover shipping and any applicable taxes, ensuring consumers get a full refund. In addition, the purchase protection service allows consumers to resolve the issue with Google’s help. The services offered by Google Trusted Stores really allow consumers to shop at ease, knowing that should anything go wrong, Google will step in to resolve the issue.

To opt-in for Google’s purchase protection consumers will be prompted at the time of check-out. If a consumer does opt-in they will receive an e-mail with a receipt and contact information for both the merchant and Google.

Stores that qualify for the Google Trusted Store badge will proudly display the badge on their site. Consumers can scroll over the badge to see a list of statistics such as reliability, shipping times and customer service. The badge can then be minimized by clicking the X. To see if the badge is authentic, consumers can expand the badge and click “verify.” This will take the consumer to the verification page. In addition, consumers should ensure the verify page is located on a Google domain.

The new Google Trusted Stores badge provides relief for shoppers and another way for online businesses to stand out from the crowd. Consumers can safely browse, shop, and purchase items knowing that their personal information is safe. Consumers will also know that their items will arrive safely and in a timely manner. This allows small businesses to move forward and proudly display their badge, gaining more traffic and consumers.
